How to enroll a child in school
It would not be a big exaggeration to say that every parent dreams that the school for his child would become a second home. But quite often such a dream remains an unrealized dream. And this happens because parents do not think about the fact that they also need to choose a school, moreover, this is still half the battle. In addition, parents of a future first grader need to know how to properly enroll a child in school. This will be discussed in today’s article.
How to enroll a child in school
Of course, first of all, it is necessary to deal with the choice of school – after all, now no one is surprised that even neighboring schools in the same district of the city have completely different requirements for their future students. In addition, an important criterion for choosing a school is its proximity to your home, especially if you are not ready to accompany your child every day to school and take him back. Therefore, if you are busy, and your offspring does not have loving and not working grandparents, then, most likely, give preference to the school that is located closest to your home. Even if there are no various circles and sections in it, do not be discouraged – later, when your child grows up, he will be able to independently attend the sections and circles he has chosen outside of school and thus receive a versatile education.
Now that the choice of school has been made, you should call this school and check with the secretary if there are free places in it. Please note that priority for admission to any public school is given to children who live in close proximity to it.
If you decide to send your child to a school located in another area, then you should not only call the school, but also go to its director for an appointment. Moreover, it is necessary to do this as early as possible, until local children are enrolled in it.
Before visiting any school for the first time, you need to collect some documents – you should have a copy of your heir’s birth certificate and his medical record on hand. It can be obtained either at the children’s clinic where your baby is observed, or, if your child goes to kindergarten, from a medical worker of this institution. Of course, you must also have your passport with you, which indicates your place of residence.

In the event that your conversation with the school principal ended positively, you will be asked to write an application for enrolling your child in school. Moreover, make sure that it is not only signed by the director, but also registered by the school secretary, otherwise the application will be considered not accepted and may even be lost.
It will not be superfluous to find out the schedule of study at the school of your choice. Think about whether it will be convenient for you and your child if, after the first grade, he will have to study not in the first, but in the second shift.
If you are satisfied with the school schedule, and your child is ready to be accepted into it, then try to talk with the future class teacher of your offspring. Such an acquaintance will help you properly set up your child for the fact that the first teacher will soon appear in his life. In a conversation with the class teacher, you can find out the need to purchase textbooks and school uniforms – there are schools in which school uniforms are mandatory from the first grade. But, nevertheless, most schools now use a recommendation method for choosing clothes for school – for example, they can tell you what things and what colors are preferable to wear for classes.

Recently, in almost every school, a future first grader is recommended to pass an interview or pass some tests. If such an offer comes from representatives of a public school, then you and your heir can not worry – this procedure is for informational purposes only and its result will not affect whether your child will be accepted into it or not. Even if your child is offered to visit a school psychologist or speech therapist after such an interview, this is also not scary – they will only assess the level of his development and the speech of your offspring and, if necessary, give you recommendations on how to correct them.
In private educational institutions, which tend to select children with a high level of development, a negative interview result, unfortunately, can cause your request to be denied.
