Many foreign companies abroad equip workplaces in a common room with special screens or umbrellas that can be opened over your head and hide from the attention of others, thus creating a kind of comfort zone for yourself. While our companies do not use such simple protection, close yourself from the outside world with your individual psychological umbrella.
Try to protect your personal space to master the techniques of mental visualization – the art of creating a protective visual image and fit yourself into it. For example, imagine that you are in a large ball with a mirrored outer surface, from which all the negative facing you is reflected, returning to the people who created it. You yourself will find yourself at rest, turning into an invisible man for others and ceasing to notice the production noise and bustle.
Or imagine that you are inside a large glass of thick glass, which is upside down, leaning the edges on the space around you. All sounds that bother or annoy you will disappear immediately. When someone speaks to you, you will not even hear it right away, and if the authorities try to reach you, you can always say that you are so earned that you do not hear anyone around and do not see. Most likely, the boss will be pleased. This technique is also good because if there is a person in the team who constantly annoys you, you can just as well “cover” him with a glass.
You can mentally practice building a brick or water wall between you and others and safely hide behind it. Try to keep the image you created does not crumble, for which remember the feeling of inner enclosure and concentrate only on work.
It will help a lot to disconnect from reality, the ability to mentally imagine that you work not in the office, but somewhere in nature, in the forest, in the mountains, at sea. Or you can simply install a beautiful screensaver with your favorite landscape on the monitor and let yourself relax, imagining that you are on a tropical beach and admire the beautiful ocean, and everyone around is rushing about and working, working, working. You can simply put a photo of your beloved family, dear people on the table and turn to them in difficult moments. Or look out the window more often, it is distracting and good for the eyes.
If it takes too much time and energy to create such “images”, you can use simpler methods. For example, you can just put on chameleon glasses and hide behind them from everyone. It doesn’t matter that you have excellent vision, glasses are needed solely for psychological protection.
Try to compose your wardrobe for work from clothes in light brown, beige tones. This range of colors exudes friendliness and warmth, which will help you quickly find a common language with colleagues.
Don’t stay at work all the time. Be sure to try to go out somewhere during your lunch break, rather than having a snack right on the job. Business meetings, if possible, appoint on a neutral territory: in a park, square, cafe.
Few people remember that in the old Soviet times, in all institutions and organizations, the so-called industrial gymnastics was carried out without fail at 11-00. All employees left the department and performed simple gymnastic exercises for 15-20 minutes. It must be admitted that this requirement was very useful. People warmed up with pleasure, relieved tension and stress. Today it would not be superfluous to use the experience of Soviet times, doing a little warm-up unnoticed by others, without even getting up from your workplace. It’s good if you have the opportunity to relieve tension by doing a few simple yoga exercises. When communicating with an unpleasant person, try to cross your arms and legs, closing the physical circuit in order to psychologically separate yourself from the interlocutor.
And do not forget to have a good rest on weekends – this will give you a boost of energy for the whole week.
